On January 30, 2018 at 17.00 in the Library of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbassy (left side) will take place the ceremony of opening of the exhibition «Diplomats – Righteous Among the Nations», dedicated to the International Holocaust Remembrance Day. The exhibition is organized jointly with the Embassy of the State of Israel in the limits of the Library’s international project «Dialogue through culture».

The International Holocaust Remembrance Day was established by the resolution of the United Nations General Assembly in 2005. On January 27, 1945 Auschwitz Concentration Camp was liberated by the Soviet troops. This day is commemorated as annual International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

This exhibition is a part of the memorial complex Yad Vashem, responsible for rewarding and perpetuating of names of «Righteous Among the Nations» who risked their lives to save the Jews during the Holocaust.

By the end of 2017 in the lists of Yad Vashem were 27 thousand names of the people recognized as Righteous Among the Nations. Among them are also diplomats who violated official instructions for the sake of rescue of innocent people. Some of them lost their work subsequently or destroyed their reputation because of the help to the Jewish population.

The materials of the exhibition have information about the diplomats awarded with the rank of Righteous Among the Nations and also tell about the terrible years of the Holocaust.


Exhibition «Diplomats – Righteous Among the Nations» will be till February 16, 2018.
