The modern history of Kazakhstan is inseparably linked with the name of the First President Nursultan Nazarbayev. From the first years of governing the country, the President paid great attention to both internal stability, preservation of interethnic harmony and unity of the people, and the development of foreign policy.
So, a quarter of a century ago N. A. Nazarbayev made a reason of his Eurasian idea, outlining the historical project "On the establishment of the Eurasian Union of States." The creation of the Eurasian economic community (EurAsEC), the Customs Union, the Common economic space and the Eurasian economic Union became its real implementation.
A unique publication of the Library of the Elbassy "Eurasian initiative of N.A. Nazarbayev: history, current state and prospects: scientific and stock collection" dedicated to the 25th anniversary of this global idea and the 5th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on the Eurasian economic Union.
The book was made in the framework of scientific project "Kazakhstan at the present stage" within the scientific program "the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbassy N.A. Nazarbayev: the strategy of public administration and the phenomenon of leadership”. This is fulfilled under the direction of the Head of the Chancellery of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbassy, doctor of political Sciences, Professor Mahmud Kassymbekov.
The edition examines the history of the Eurasian idea, the state of modern Eurasian integration, which received a new impetus in the XXI century and international political meaning through fateful initiatives of the Elbassy. The book includes documents from the Personal archive of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbassy with his notes, as well as materials from the Museum collection of the Elbassy Library.
New arrivals to the book fund of the Library of the Elbassy is also devoted to Eurasian idea of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.
The book of Tair Mansurov "25 years of the Eurasian project of Nursultan Nazarbayev. 1994-2019" consistently revealed the historical role of this project as a key tool for effective economic and social development, opening up new opportunities and prospects for the post-Soviet countries.
Another project of N.A. Nazarbayev - Assembly of people of Kazakhstan, intended to implement the state national policies to ensure socio-political stability and increase of efficiency of interaction of state and civil society institutions in the sphere of interethnic relations will too mark 25th anniversary next year.
The idea of creating the APK was first announced by Nursultan Nazarbayev in 1992, at the Forum of the people of Kazakhstan dedicated to the first anniversary of Independence. On March 1, 1995, the President issued a Decree on the formation of the Assembly of people of Kazakhstan with the status of an Advisory body to the Head of state. In May 2007, a number of amendments were made to the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Assembly of people of Kazakhstan was given constitutional status, it received the right to elect nine deputies to the Mazhilis of Parliament. On October 20, 2008 the President signed the Law "On the Assembly of people of Kazakhstan", which has no analogues in the world. The APK has become a full subject of the country's political system. At the same time, the Assembly has become one of the developed segments of civil society and one of the most important mechanisms for the formation of civil identity in the XXI century.
The book collections of the Library of the Elbassy got a new volume dedicated to the activities of the APK and the role of N. A. Nazarbayev in its creation and development. The socio-political edition of 2019 "Elbassy and people" contains the texts of the speeches of the President of the Assembly of people of Kazakhstan N. A. Nazarbayev at all sessions of the APK from 1995 to 2018. There are articles of famous Kazakh political and public figures on the activities of the APK and the initiator of its creation published in the press, as well as appeals of ethnic and cultural associations for N. A. Nazarbayev as the author of the Kazakh model of social harmony and national unity.
