Heydar Aliyev Foundation opens exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of ADR in Berlin.

An exhibition and an official reception organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Germany opened in Berlin on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.

A documentary film about the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic was also shown and a musical program with the participation of well-known Azerbaijani musicians was presented.

The exhibition "At the tip of the brush" opened at the Residence of the President of the Republic of Belarus»

The exhibition, which opened in the Branch of the Presidential library of the Republic of Belarus in the Residence of the President of the Republic of Belarus, presents the works of students and teachers of the school of Oriental painting "White stone" in Minsk.

The exhibition displays works made in the technique of traditional Chinese calligraphy of kai-shu and go-hua, y-sin and se-i. The exhibition presents images of "four noble plants" - wild Orchid, bamboo, Mei-Hua plum, and chrysanthemum, as well as works of the genre "flowers and birds" (hua-nyao) and paintings of traditional Chinese landscape (Shan-Shui).

XV festival "Kinoproba" in Yeltsin Center

Yekaterinburg hosted the jubilee international festival-workshop of film schools "Kinoproba". The main site of the "Film Test" as always was the house of cinema, but part of the educational programs took place in Yeltsin Center.

Guests and participants of the festival were more than 100 filmmakers from different countries: Bulgaria, Spain, Poland, Russia, Japan, etc. This year 387 applications were received for the competition program - these are game, documentary and animation works of novice filmmakers, 113 films were included in the competition program.

Award of the Kennedy center

On the stage of the Kennedy center Opera house, the award of outstanding personalities in the field of theater and cinema in 2018 was held. Kennedy center awards were given to singer and actress Cher, composer and pianist Philip Glass, country music artist Reba McEntire, jazz saxophonist and composer Wayne Shorter. And the creators of "Hamilton" - Lin-Manuel Miranda, Thomas Kail, Andy Blankenbuehler and Alex Lacamoire received a special award from the Kennedy Center for its pioneering work.

Kennedy Center awards are awarded for lifetime achievements of American artists, as well as citizens of other countries who have achieved recognition in the United States.

Donation machines at Lincoln center

Visitors can make a donation through the vending machines installed at Lincoln center. Now vending machines accept donations instead of selling packets of chips and chocolates. Charity machines offer a variety of donation options, from a pair of socks to polio vaccines. Passers-by can make a donation to one of the five charities using a credit card.

The third meeting of CGI

The Clinton global initiative (CGI) held its third meeting on disaster recovery. CGI discussed the situation around Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda in need of assistance. Bill Clinton and Vice President of the Clinton Foundation Chelsea Clinton analyzed the severity and consequences of storms such as Irma, Maria, which since 2017 are damaging a number of regions, and suggested ways to prevent them. During the meeting, CGI signed an agreement with the organizations of medicine, construction and education.

Library of Congress announces a competition for students

The library of Congress announced a creative competition among young readers. According to its rules, participants - students in grades 4-12 - should write an essay about any literary work, the impression it made. The best participants will receive cash prizes. The contest will last until January 11, 2019.

The South African national blood service (SANBS), in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Foundation, conducted a blood drive campaign. In order to cover the demand for blood, SANBS needs to collect at least 5,000 units of blood per month.
