On December 7, in the new building of the Museum of the Library of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbassy, an exhibition of children works based on the results of the XV International Contest of fine arts "Tugan zherim" has opened. The exhibition is dedicated to Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The event was opened by Director of the Library of Elbassy Amerkhan Rakhimzhanov.

– This year was not easy for Kazakhstanis, as well as for all inhabitants of the earth. The world is facing a global pandemic that has become a challenge for the entire world community. But despite the quarantine measures, we are once again convinced of how versatile and deep the talent of children is. This October the Kulanshi Center for contemporary art held a summing up and awarding of the winners of the Tugan zherim children and youth art drawing contest, which was held in an online format. More than 400 works from different parts of Kazakhstan, Russia, Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Belarus were presented to the jury. The winners were awarded diplomas and memorable gifts. According to the tradition that has been established since 2004, the works of the winners of the contest are today presented in the exhibition hall of the Museum of Elbassy", he said, congratulating those present on the upcoming national holiday - Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The "Tugan zherim" competition is a joint project of the Library of Elbassy, the Bayta Charitable Foundation for Supporting Creative Initiatives and Cultural Heritage of Kazakhstan, the Kulanshi Center for Contemporary Art and the Children Art School - UNESCO Club of Nur-Sultan.
– Many thanks to all our partners for supporting children's creativity. I think that we are doing a great job for these children, helping them to develop, believe in themselves, and then take place in art, said Head of the Charity Foundation "Bayta" Svetlana Mahat.
The organizers annually determine the genre and thematic focus of the competition works. For more than 15 years of the project's existence, various works have been considered: from traditional painting, graphics, sculpture to decorative and applied art. Young creators are offered themes that reflect their ideas about the motherland, continuity, traditions, cultural identity of their people. In 2020, a contest was held for paintings.
 - The popularity and relevance of the contest "Tugan zherim" is evidenced by its 15-year history and expanding the geography of participants every year. The opportunity to hold the "Tugan zherim" contest this year and organize an exhibition in this stunning place – the new building of the Museum of the First President, despite the pandemic, shows that there are no borders and barriers for art", said Leila Mahat, a Chairperson of the Curatorial Council of the Center for Contemporary Art "Kulanshi".
Visitors of the exhibition will have the opportunity to appreciate the works of art by young artists from different countries on the following topics: "Past, present, future", "The land where I was born", "Traditions of my people", "My hobby","I am an artist".
The exhibition will run until January 25, 2020.
