Galym Nurlanov began to lose his sight in elementary school. He could no longer study at an ordinary school, so he asked his parents to transfer him to a boarding school for the blind and visually impaired in Taraz. As Galym himself recalls, this was a turning point in his life. In the new environment, he was able to open up, make new friends, among whom, as it turned out, was his future wife. In 2019, Galym Nurlanov became the winner of the project "100 new faces of Kazakhstan". Today, he runs a special library for the blind and visually impaired in Nur-Sultan. Together with his wife Enlik he brings up two daughters and calls it great human happiness, which took place thanks to self-belief and the kindness of people.

- I have always been determined to help everyone, especially the blind. At the same time, I wanted to learn more, read... After school, I enrolled in the Republican library for the blind and visually impaired in Almaty. I was 17-18 years old, I was very happy to learn everything new, listening to audiobooks. People who knew Braille reading techniques came to the same library. However, no matter how much I asked to teach me, there was no response. Then I decided to learn and mastered Braille. I was very happy because I finally got the opportunity not to listen, but to read M. Auezov's book "Abay Zholy".

The library, which opened the world of books to Galym, became his first place of work.  He started working, helping other blind people. He gained a lot of experience while working in the editorial office of the newspaper "RBNSG-Vesti - a Republican publication for visually impaired people.

He entered the correspondence department at Kokshetau College of Culture named after Akan Seri, graduated from it and continued his studies at Kokshetau State University named after Sh. Ualikhanov with a degree in "Librarianship".

Knowing how difficult it is for blind people to find support, especially for children, Galym opened free courses in Braille reading and computer literacy in 2015. Today, those whom Galym has trained work in his library.

In 2018, Galym's idea to open a Recording Studio for audiobooks became the winner of the Bolashak Foundation, and he won 2.5 million tenge to open a Studio on the basis of the library.

– In Kazakhstan, there is a large shortage of audiobooks in the Kazakh language. Therefore, this project was very necessary. We have already recorded 100 different audiobooks of 300-400 copies each. We have distributed them to the branches of the library in all regions and to everyone for free. Now I plan to open a printing house to print books in Braille.

In 2015, Galym won the Grand Prix of the International competition "White cane" in the category "Reading and writing" in Braille. In addition, he is a silver medalist of the Spartakiad among athletes with disabilities "Umit". He was awarded letters of thanks from the Department of culture and sports and MPI "Centralized Library System" of Nur-Sultan, as well as a certificate of Honor from the Trade Unions of workers in the sphere of culture, sports, tourism, and information.

Everyone who is familiar with Galym Nurlanov considers his victory in the project "100 new faces of Kazakhstan" fair. Galym is known not only for his achievements in the field of information technology and social projects, but he is also known, first of all, as a sincere, kind and sympathetic person who is able to help at any time.
