On November 29, events dedicated to the Day of the First President were held in the Library of Elbassy within the scientific and exposition project "Historical choice".
- In the history of our state, December 1, 1991, has a special significance. On this day, the first national presidential elections were held. This is the day when the people of Kazakhstan made their historical choice in favor of stability, a confident future and creation. At that time, the First President of Kazakhstan - Elbassy Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev faced a difficult task - to bring the young state, which had just appeared on the world map, to the path of sustainable development, to consolidate its position as a reliable and authoritative participant in the international arena. The most important task was to ensure both foreign and domestic political legitimation. And today we can say with confidence that Nursultan Nazarbayev provided foreign policy legitimation by closing the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site and declaring Kazakhstan a nuclear-free state with the guarantee of the leading states, as well as implemented domestic political legitimation on the principle of "first economy, then politics". Under the leadership of N. Nazarbayev, a new political system was established, the mechanisms of the market economy were formed, the Foundation of the rule of law was laid, ethnic and religious harmony in society was ensured, our young state was recognized in the world as a full member of the UN. ...Today, 28 years later, we live in a peaceful, prosperous, confidently moving forward Kazakhstan, said, opening the event, Director of the Library of Elbassy, Doctor of political sciences, Amerkhan Rakhimzhanov.
Every year, the project "Historical choice" reveals different facets of the country's recent political history. In 2019, the main topics of the project were the 30th anniversary of the Law "On languages" and the history of public initiatives of N. Nazarbayev.
The first event of the project was the "Scientific and literary lounge" - a dialogue platform, where the history of language policy of Kazakhstan was considered from three perspectives - political, historical and linguistic. Authoritative representatives of the national science and culture, well-known public figures of Kazakhstan, expressed their views on the history of the development of state policy regarding the state language for 30 years.
Deputy of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, journalist, writer, translator, literary critic, doctor of Philology Sauytbek Abdrakhmanov in his speech noted the huge role of Elbassy in the preservation, development and enhancement of the status of the Kazakh language as the most important factor of statehood and the spiritual core of society.
- In the most challenging conditions, when the number of indigenous population in the Republic did not exceed 40%, Nursultan Abishevich managed to preserve the Kazakh language and did everything possible for its further development. "The future of Kazakhstan is in the Kazakh language," the President has repeatedly noted in his speeches. We must continue to work in this direction, develop the language, actively using it in all spheres, and leave a legacy to our descendants, he stressed and congratulated all those present on the upcoming Day of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
- I congratulate you on the upcoming state holiday - the Day of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan! For a short period by historical standards, our Elbassy together with the people of Kazakhstan created an independent and prosperous state, which has become a symbol of peace, unity and harmony, said the state and public figure, poet, writer, member of the Union of Writers of Kazakhstan, Deputy of the Mazhilis Bakytbek Smagul.
State and political figure, Doctor of Economics, professor, corresponding member of the NEA RK, head of the department of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan of ENU named after L. Gumilyov Anatoly Bashmakov:
- Elbassy and independence are the two complementary concepts. This is the highest thing that modern domestic history has achieved. These are two moral historical and political symbols, without which the advancement of Kazakhstan is unthinkable today. This is our history, our destiny. ... Speaking of language, we most often mean its communicative function. And this is correct, it is the most important tool of communication. However, it seems to me that language is above all the unwritten Constitution of the people.
The artists of the Presidential Orchestra of the State Security Service of the Republic of Kazakhstan performed musical numbers for the participants and spectators of the event.
Then there was the opening of the exhibitions "Signs of high recognition" and "The fate of the language - the fate of the nation."
The exposition of the exhibition "Signs of high recognition" introduces a unique collection of public awards of Elbassy N. Nazarbayev, awarded to him in different years for merits in the area of economic development, health, science, education, preservation of interethnic and interreligious harmony, support of sports and other achievements in domestic and foreign policy of Kazakhstan. In total, the exhibition features more than 40 exhibits.
The exhibition "The fate of language - the fate of the nation" from the archival, museum and book collections of the Library of Elbassy consistently reveals four thematic areas: "The history of writing of the traditional Kazakh society", "30 years of leadership", "30 years of the law "On languages", "Modern language policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan". The exhibition presents more than 70 documents and 50 photos from the Personal Archive of Elbassy, among which the manuscripts and working notes of N. Nazarbayev are of particular interest. Materials from the museum and book collections along with archival sources illustrate the history of the implementation of the state language policy aimed at supporting modern Kazakh literature, trilingualism, the transition of the Kazakh language to the Latin alphabet, the popularization of the rich literary heritage of Kazakhstan.
Exhibitions in the framework of the project "Historical choice" will run until February 29, 2020.
