On October 14 this year in the building of the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation in the Center for Contemporary Art "Kulanshi", the results were summed up and the winners were awarded of the drawing competition of children and youth creativity "Tugan zherim" . The event was held in an online format – participants joined the broadcast through the ZOOM app.
The contest was organized by the Library of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbassy, the Center for Contemporary Art "Kulanshi", Charitable Foundation for Supporting Creative Initiatives of Young Talents "Bayta", Education Department of Nur-Sultan, the Representation of the International Union of Teachers-Artists (RF) in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Eurasian Academy of Arts, Children's Art School - UNESCO Club in Nur-Sultan with the support of ForteBank JSC and the Leonardo hobby hypermarket.
The "Tugan zherim" drawing contest for children and youth started in 2004. In 2006, the competition reached a new project level. The Museum of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbassy became a platform for summing up the results of the competition and exhibiting the winners' works. The publication of contest catalogues has become a good tradition.
The main goal of this project is to familiarize children around the world with the culture and creativity of Kazakhstan, creating conditions to unlock their personal and creative potential. The works of the contestants, performed in various techniques of painting, arts and crafts and sculpture, reveal the whole palette of modern children's artistic creativity, show the level of professional skill of teachers.
This year the competition became more extensive. More than 400 works on the suggested topics: "Past, present, future", "The land where I was born", "Traditions of my people", "My hobby", "I am an artist" were sent not only from different parts of Kazakhstan but also from Russia, Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Belarus.
Deputy Director of the Library of Elbassy Kulyaysha Aktayeva made a welcoming speech to the participants and organizers:
– From the first moments, when then the Museum of the First President supported this initiative, we were moved by the realization that only children's creativity is the most sincere and the most complete expression of art. Every year the works of our young participants inspire us to continue and not stop on this creative path. That is why the Library of Elbassy does not get tired of supporting children's creativity. We want to express our admiration and gratitude to the contestants.
According to a member of the jury and the organizing committee of the competition, director of the Kulanshi Center for Contemporary Art Leyla Makhat, it is always very difficult to make a decision about what place this or that work of art will take.
– And children's creativity is almost impossible to evaluate. Children put a part of themselves, their hearts and for them to participate in the competition is a great test. But if children want to become artists, it is worth getting used to it, because the work of the artist is evaluated by the audience, the work of the writer – by the reader, etc. I am absolutely delighted with the quality of the works submitted for the competition, I was very pleased with the number of works and the geography of participants. I want to congratulate everyone who found the courage to send their work to this competition," she said in her speech.
