Every year, on May 18, museum workers around the world celebrate their professional holiday - International Museum Day.
It appeared in the calendar in 1977, when a regular meeting of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) decided to establish this cultural holiday. Since 1978, International Museum Day was celebrated in more than 150 countries.

One of the famous cardiac surgeons in our country is the winner of the project "100 new personalities of Kazakhstan" Bauyrzhan Rakishev. A young and promising doctor, a graduate of the Bolashak program, now heads the Department of cardiac surgery at the National scientific center of surgery named after A. N. Syzganov.
The Library of Elbassy released a new issue of the socio-political and popular scientific journal "NN Journal"("New Nation Journal"). The issue No. 1 (5) / 2020 is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the APK, the theme of the issue is "Assembly of People of Kazakhstan: a model of unity and harmony".
An archaeologist, historian, literary critic, art critic, orientalist Alkey Margulan discovered more than ten underground cities and many monuments to the world. An outstanding Kazakh scientist, one of the founders of archaeological science in Kazakhstan initiated a number of archaeological and ethnographic expeditions to the deepest regions of the Kazakh steppes and deserts. He left behind an extremely valuable scientific heritage, having written dozens of works on archeology, architecture, ethnography, and folklore of Kazakhstan.

The first Kazakh pilot, navigator, and sniper Khiuaz Dospanova in the Great Patriotic War made 300 combat missions. She was one of the "Night witches" - the legendary women's night bomber regiment. She took an active part in the liberation of Kuban, Taman, Novorossiysk, Crimea, Belarus, and Poland. The fearless pilot was seriously injured twice. Despite everything, she returned to the front, and met Victory near Berlin.

As a young 19-year-old girl, Manshuk Mametova went to the front of the Great Patriotic War in August 1942. In the battles with the fascist invaders, she showed heroic valor and courage. On March 1, 1944, by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union, she was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union for exemplary fulfillment of combat missions, bravery and heroism. She was awarded posthumously. Manshuk Mametova became the first Kazakh woman to be awarded this high title.
On May 7, Defender of the Fatherland Day, which is a public holiday in Kazakhstan, the Library of Elbassy introduces readers to the Hero of the Soviet Union, the first holder of the title "Halyk Kakharmany" ("People's Hero"), the first Minister of Defense of independent Kazakhstan, the first General of the Army of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sagadat Nurmagambetov.
