The basis of the collection of the Personal Library is made up of Elbasy s books and his works of authorship published in the Republic of Kazakhstan and abroad; books and other printed publications with donations to the First President from the authors; rare, collectible and gift editions; periodicals (newspapers, magazines); reference books (encyclopedias, dictionaries, reference books); biobibliographic and bibliographic indexes and electronic editions.

The personal archive of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy (hereinafter referred to as the Personal Archive) is a structural unit of the Library, endowed with the right to collect (acquire), store, use documents (originals or copies) generated in the course of the official and social activities of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy, biographical, creative materials, as well as documents of his family members and close relatives.

The Elbasy Library Museum is located in the building of the Residence of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, where he worked in the period 1997-2004. after moving the capital from Almaty to Astana. The atmosphere of working days of those years is recreated by the office, reception room and meeting rooms of the Head of State, preserved in their original form. The Museum of the Library also presents unique exhibits reflecting the main stages of the formation and development of independent Kazakhstan through the prism of the life and work of N.A. Nazarbayev.

The main direction of the editorial and publishing activities of the Library of Elbasy is the publication of publications devoted to the study of the history of the formation and development of independent Kazakhstan, the activities of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy N.A. Nazarbayev, the phenomenon of Elbasy's personality, his modern political activity, his historical contribution to the development of Kazakhstan's statehood and strategic initiatives that have influenced the world.
